THE GUIDE TO #WINNING ON LINKEDIN

So you’ve got yourself a LinkedIn company page. Now what?  Follow our simple 7-Step GIF Guide to make sure you’re winning on LinkedIn.

#1 OFFER VALUE

offer value on linkedin

Start populating your company page with original content from your own website and relevant industry updates. This is an opportunity to offer real value to your followers and position your company as an innovative brand that’s up to date with the latest industry news. This is not the place for the hard sell or click bait and memes (this isn't Facebook).  Makes sense, right?

#2 SEO YOUR PROFILE

Optimise your company page to ensure you appear in search results. By adding relevant keywords to your company page description, your business will be more easily searchable. Adding hashtags to your posts is another great way to ensure your content gets seen by a relevant audience. I see you looking at me…

#3 USE LINKEDIN AS A TOOL FOR YOUR SALES FORCE

Encourage your sales team to start utilising LinkedIn as an effective tool for prospecting. After meeting potential clients or new business associates, immediately look them up and connect on LinkedIn. Statistically, prospects take six interactions before they’re ready to tip over the edge. Connecting on LinkedIn and following up with an introductory InMail gets you almost half way there. Got to make that money (real money that is – not bunny money).

#4 IT NEEDS TO BE A TEAM EFFORT

The voice of an individual brand advocate carries more weight than a faceless brand account, so make sure your employees get involved. Winning on LinkedIn is a group effort. The best way to increase your reach and establish a good base of followers is to encourage company employees and clients to join your page and share relevant content to their own network. Things are better when we all work together!

#5 JOING THE CLUB

Want to know where all the cool kids are hanging out? Join a club… or how about a group? Becoming part of relevant LinkedIn groups will help you to gain better visibility and authority within your industry. Keep in mind that being actively part of a group is a time commitment, so do your research and make sure to pick those that are most likely to contain potential clients or customers. Now you’re really ready to shine!

#6 LISTEN AND PARTICIPATE

Listen and be an active participant in the groups you’re a member of. This isn’t a dumping ground for links from your company page, presented without comment. Read other people’s comments and take part in the discussion. Like any meeting or open forum, this is an opportunity to be seen as a professional that offers great advice, to showcase your expertise or introduce a unique perspective to the discussion. Show them your skills!

#7 EXPERIMENT WITH SPONSORED POSTS

Nothing in life is free and at a minimum $2 CPC advertising on LinkedIn doesn't come cheap. However, Sponsored Posts are a great way to reach a highly targeted audience outside your existing company followers. Many companies have already seen great ROI on LinkedIn advertising. Through sponsored updates, Telstra was able to improve brand perception and build relationships, successfully increasing the rate at which they attracted new followers by 12 per cent. Hubspot, a leader in inbound marketing software, is another early convert to LinkedIn advertising. Their sponsored updates campaign generated 400 per cent more leads than any other paid channel.

Not bad LinkedIn, not bad at all.

…AND THAT’S ALL THERE IS TO IT. IT COULDN’T BE EASIER TO WIN ON LINKEDIN.
